"Internet Project"

In 1996 International Scientific Foundation supported "Internet Project " in the area of education, science and culture. The project resulted in launching Minsk backbone of Unibel network. This allowed easy access to the Internet for noncommercial organizations active in the social and education sector.

Within the framework of the project Internet-nodes were set up in the regional centers; Web-pages for a number of non-governmental organizations and educational institutions were created; training in the Internet Centers was delivered to 40 staff members of government bodies, 200 representatives of social and education sectors, 700 schoolchildren from all over Belarus.

NICE project

In June 1997 Belarus took part in the teleconference Global 360 devoted to problems of modern telecommunications. Among participants there were organizations from Brussels, Madeira, Moscow, Amsterdam, Calgary and other cities all over the world. Minsk (CAC) participated in this teleconference using MBONE technology.
